Hello, everyone! Hope you're all doing well. Today, I wanted to do something a tad different. Today I want to talk action figures.
I do have a relatively nice collection, so I thought that from time to time I'd like to show them off a bit, starting, of course, with Batman.
This is the Batman: Last Knight on Earth figure based on the 3 issue mini series by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.
This story serves as the last story that Snyder and Capullo worked on for Batman in a stand alone sense, and they went out with a bang.
Well, McFarlane Toys, which have been doing figures for DC a little while now, came out of nowhere with this, and I am SO happy about it!
There's a lot for me to love about this figure, even if I didn't know the backstory of the figure. Batman in a straightjacket, a Joker head in a jar, the accessories, and don't mind Bane there, that's just part of a recent trend where you have to collect a complete series of a certain set of toys that contains the parts of another figure all together like a puzzle, and then you can build that extra figure one you've collected the whole set.
The funny thing about this one, is that I actually have TWO. I had, of all things, jury duty on the same day that Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo were doing a signing at Midtown Comics for their Amazon/Dark Horse series, We Have Demons. I didn't take my figure because, well, I had to sit out the whole day waiting to see if I was selected to be a juror in a trial.
As it turns out, I hadn't been selected, but usually you have to stay the rest of the day any just in case. But, after like 5 minutes of going back to the waiting pool, I was called, given my letter that I served, and was excused! I was in downtown Manhattan so I didn't have time to rush back home, get the figure, and come back down to the signing. So I wen to Midtown, got the copy of We Have Demons that I had to buy to be able to get into the signing, and luckily enough, they had ONE figure left of Last Knight on Earth, which is the one in the picture in this blog.
So, I have one signed by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, and another that I will likely take out of the box and have it perched overlooking my desk at some point. Anywho, thank you all so much for indulging me, I will do more blog posts like these and get into why I never grew out of loving action figures, catch you all next time!
