This was supposed to be week 1. But, for those who have seen my previous 5 challenges, things usually do not work out as well as I would hope.
On Dec 23, as we were about to leave upstate to visit friends for Christmas, our bookshelf (which can be seen in many of the 100s vids I've done) decided to collapse onto itself, and crashing over, well, me!
It was bad. It was like a Barnes & Noble exploded right behind me, action movie style. Pop figures, books, comics, mangas, scattered all over the place. Truth be told I still haven't been able to reorganize everything.
Mostly because we had to wait for new shelves we ordered online, and we were going away for Christmas weekend. I also had to heal up.
The stuff hit me pretty hard on my head, shoulder, and back. And those who know me from way back know I have to be especially careful with hits to the head, because of a nasty concussion I had once years ago when I was in a car accident. But on the plus side, no broken bones in 2017, and I had found my keys which had fallen behind the bookshelf, so THERE.

So pretty much since a few days before Ne Year's I've been reorganizing the room and my workspace. I still wanted to start the new challenge on the 1st of Jan, but I had to be realistic and cut my losses early, I wasn't exactly well enough to work on stuff and mounting the new shelf and organizing everything was taking slower than expected. And it didn't hep that I lost a day because the super of the building came without warning to melt frozen water from the pipes in the heater in EVERY room of the building. So that set me back an entire day and that's when I decided to cash out on my hopes of doing this on the 1st.
So, instead, I decided to document to an extent this week and name it "week zero", since it's building up to tomorrow and the official start of the challenge, since I won't be doing daily vids anymore.
Te vids, while fun to make, consumed quite a bit of time, and now that I'm at SVA, it's virtually impossible to do a decent video daily. Besides, I've done videos for challenges 2-5, and I didn't want to just do more of the same, so I'm changing things up a bit.
I'm doing short kind of behind the scenes videos on my instagram ( https://www.instagram.com/lancedanger/ ) and I'll likely do it on Facebook too.
Aside from the pics and short vids, I will be recording stuff to eventually upload to YouTube. I'm pretty much going to compile stuff and edit it kind kind of in the same vein the Seoul Sessions videos by animator LeSean Thomas were.
My hope with this is that I'll be able to sharpen my editing skills as well as keep the videos unique and fresh, and not have it be just more of the same videos I've been doing. If schedule stays on course, I'll likely start uploading these videos maybe around day 50-ish of the challenge.
There's a number of things I want to accomplish during this challenge, but I don't want to spoil everything here. I will likely do micro blogs or even micro vlogs somewhat daily to keep everybody posted, there's quite a few things I'm VERY excited about! So, come walk with me one more time as I reenter this whacky world of comics making (which I never really stopped, but it is cool to document all this stuff). See you all on the other side.
